Physician Careers at Children’s
Children’s Hospital Central California is a not-for-profit, state-of-the-art children’s hospital on a 50-acre campus with a Medical Staff of more than 450 Physicians. Over 140 of these doctors are dedicated pediatric subspecialists with practices located in our main building or on our main campus.
Children’s offers physicians a large patient base. Covering the entire heart of California, our service area ranges from Stockton to Bakersfield, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. In California, we treat more inpatient cases than any pediatric hospital north of San Diego, making us the second largest children’s hospital in the state. Our 315-bed facility is one of the 10 largest hospitals of its type in the nation. And by the end of 2008, we will have grown to 338 beds.

Physician Organizations
The Hospital works closely with its physician groups to help provide the resources necessary to have a successful practice. We are affiliated with Specialty Medical Group Central California, Inc. (SMG), as well as a number of other specialty based physician organizations. Physicians considering a career at Children's are encouraged to review SMG's website to see what this physician-owned and operated group has to offer. The Hospital is also closely linked to ChildNet Medical Associates, another physician-owned and operated group with a lot to offer pediatriciac specialists coming to our community.
Quality and Service
Our service speaks for itself. We perform more than 9,000 pediatric surgeries a year and our Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units have some of the lowest mortality rates in the country while treating some of the sickest kids. Our Craycroft Cancer Center is a full member of the nationally-recognized Children’s Oncology Group (COG), and sees more than 100 new cases a year. Our Willson Heart Center has pioneered pediatric heart care for half a century. Pediatric Oncology Medical Director - Lead a well established department of six physicians in the Craycroft Cancer Center at Children's Hospital. The Center is a full member of Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and has over 300 patients on COG protocols at any given time, the most of and West Coast center.
Pediatric Gastroenterology Medical Director – Unique opportunities for medical director and staff positions at the main hospital and satellite practice in North-Central California community. This very large practice sees approximately 5,000 patients annually and gastroenterologists perform about 1,000 endoscopy procedures every year.
