Children’s Hospital Central California is a not-for-profit, state-of-the-art children’s hospital on a 50-acre campus with a Medical Staff of more than 450 Physicians. Over 140 of these doctors are dedicated pediatric subspecialists with practices located in our main building or on our main campus.

Children’s offers physicians a large patient base. Covering the entire heart of California, our service area ranges from Stockton to Bakersfield, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. In California, we treat more inpatient cases than any pediatric hospital north of San Diego, making us the second largest children’s hospital in the state. Our 348-bed facility is one of the 10 largest hospitals of its type in the nation.

Physician Organizations

The Hospital works closely with its physician groups to help provide the resources necessary to have a successful practice. We are affiliated with Specialty Medical Group Central California, Inc. (SMG), as well as a number of other specialty based physician organizations. The Hospital is also closely linked to ChildNet Medical Associates, another physician-owned and operated group with a lot to offer pediatric specialists coming to our community.

Quality and Service

Our service speaks for itself. We perform more than 9,000 pediatric surgeries a year and our Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units have some of the lowest mortality rates in the country while treating some of the sickest kids. Our Craycroft Cancer Center is a full member of the nationally-recognized Children’s Oncology Group (COG), and sees more than 100 new cases a year. Our Willson Heart Center has pioneered pediatric heart care for half a century. SMG, a hospital-based medical corporation associated with Children's Hospital Central California, invites applicants for the SMG President position. SMG's physicians are closely affiliated with Children's Hospital and offer some of the world's finest pediatric subspecialists. Reporting to the SMG Board of Directors, this position is responsible for providing clinical and administrative leadership and ensures that the culture, by-laws, strategies, and initiatives of SMG are aligned with Children's Hospital Central California. Special skills and abilities for this position include planning, human resource management, financial management, effective written and verbal communication, high developed collaborative, problem solving and interpersonal relationship skills and business literacy.

The incumbent shall assume up to 20% of time as a practicing clinician at Children's Hospital Central California. The position requires a license to practice Medicine in California with Board Certification in Pediatrics or a practice in a pediatric-focused sub-specialty. Minimum of 4 years in successful healthcare leadership with demonstrated administrative ability. Degree in business administration, healthcare administration or equivalent is desirable.
