Jamie Lee Curtis


Best-selling children’s book author and film actor Jamie Lee Curtis is a champion for Children’s Hospital Central California. In 2007, she enthusiastically agreed to lend her name and talents to help Valley kids. Ms. Curtis, who has roots in Central California, is prominently featured in advertisements and promotions for the Hospital.

Jamie Lee CurtisMs. Curtis’ mother, famed actor Janet Leigh, was born in Merced, one of the communities served by Children’s. Ms. Curtis attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton and has maintained ties in the Valley.

“Her personality and agenda match our organization well,” said William Haug, President and CEO of Children's. “So we decided to inquire and see if we could spark her interest. Her response was immediate and enthusiastic. She is a very involved children’s advocate, and I think the values and needs of Children’s Hospital are a good fit with her efforts.”

Ms. Curtis is the author of eight children’s books including The New York Times best-seller “Is There Really a Human Race?” and “Today I Feel Silly and Other Moods That Make My Day.” More than three million copies of her books have been sold. Click here to learn more about her books.

An acclaimed actress, Ms. Curtis has starred in such films as “Freaky Friday,” “True Lies,” “Trading Places” and "Beverly Hills Chihuahua."

Ms. Curtis has a deep and active connection to many other children’s charities.  She is the official spokesperson for The Children Affected by AIDS Foundation and The Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation. She also serves on the Board of Directors of The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University as well as helping two other children’s hospitals.

The proud mother of Annie and Thomas, Ms. Curtis is married to actor/director Christopher Guest.
