As an extra fundraising challenge, Best Buy Market Owner Skip Nugent moves his desk into the parking lot and stays put until at least $5,000 is raised.

Become a Community Partner
Do you own a business and recognize the benefits of supporting Children's Hospital Central California? Cause marketing promotions tie a company and its product to an issue or cause with the goal of improving sales and image. Business Week has referred to the concept as “doing well by doing good.”
The 1999 Cone/Roper Cause Related Trends Report found that consumers will support for-profit companies that are actively involved in social causes.
Among the key findings:
- 83% of consumers say they have a more positive image of a company that supports a cause they care about
- 66% of American consumers said that, price and quality being equal, they would switch to a brand or retailer associated with a good cause
- 54% would pay more for a product affiliated with a cause
- 90% of employees of companies involved with a cause feel proud of their companies’ values
- 87% of such employees feel a strong sense of loyalty
Linking a company, brand, or product to a social cause or issue has increased dramatically in the past decade and this growth is predicted to continue. Originally used as a short-term, sales-driven promotional tool, cause marketing has evolved to become a long-term positioning and marketing strategy. Companies using cause marketing in this sophisticated way have at their disposal an enormously powerful means to build long-lasting, deep relationships with customers. A primary reason for this growth is the ability to differentiate one's product from that of one's competition through association with a cause that is tied to customers' values or concerns. Association with those values or concerns enhances the bond between the customer, the brand and the event.
