Board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and subspecialty certified in pediatric rehabilitation medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Aga Lewelt joined Children’s Hospital as a pediatric physiatrist in July 2012. Her area of special interest includes strengthening exercise in neuromuscular disorders, spasticity management, and hand function in hemiplegia.

Aga Lewelt, MDDr. Lewelt comes to us from Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she served as an attending physician for the outpatient and inpatient pediatric rehabilitation unit. She also served as an assistant professor, division of physical medicine and rehabilitation, and as an adjunct assistant professor, pediatrics, at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

Dr. Lewelt has published in various peer-reviewed publications, including “Muscle & Nerve,” “Journal of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine,” and “Pediatrics.” She has also presented at national and international conferences on various topics in her field, such as hand use in cerebral palsy, exercise and outcome measures in spinal muscular atrophy, and clinical trials in alternating hemiplegia of childhood.

Dr. Lewelt is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, and American Academy of Neurology. She is also a member of Specialty Medical Group.

Dr. Lewelt earned her medical degree from University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. She did her medical internship at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center in West Reading, Pa. She completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, and her fellowship in pediatric rehabilitation medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md.

In her free time, Dr. Lewelt enjoys outdoor activities, traveling and visiting friends and family. She speaks Polish.
