Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Joel Brownell joined Children’s Hospital Central California in 2000. He serves as a Pediatric Hospitalist as well as our Chief Medical Information Officer.

An active member of the Hospital’s medical staff, he has served on several committees including the Leadership Steering Committee, the Joint Performance Improvement Committee and was Medical Director of Charlie Mitchell’s Children’s Clinic (Complex Primary Care) for seven years.

Dr. Brownell earned his medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He completed an internship and residency at the University of California, Davis Department of Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
