Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics with subspecialty certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Jorge Montes has over 25 years of experience. He joined Children’s Hospital Central California in August 2000. He is the Medical Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Dr. Montes is a member in several professional societies including the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Medical Association. He has served in an administrative position as Medical Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia; Medical Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Director of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine. In addition to providing direct patient care, Dr. Montes has held academic positions including Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Miami School of Medicine and Associate Professor of Pediatric at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine. He has been published in several professional journals including Critical Care Medicine and Neonatal Intensive Care.
A graduate from the University of Caldas School of Medicine, Dr. Montes completed his internship at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and pediatric residency at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He also completed a residency in the Department of Anesthesia at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital prior to starting his fellowship. Dr. Montes is fellowship trained in pediatric critical care medicine by the Hospital for Sick Children-University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada.
