Board certified in pediatric cardiology and pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. James Prochazka is the Medical Director of Cardiology. He has practiced pediatric cardiology with Children’s for 30 years and has had an unarguable impact on Central California’s pediatric population. A proven physician leader, Dr. Prochazka has served as Chief of Staff, Chair of the Education Steering Committee at Children’s and on the Board of Directors for ChildNet Medical Associates, Inc. He has been honored by the Hospital with the Board of Trustees Meritorous Service Award and the Residency Teaching Award.

Dr. James ProchazkaAside from his years of experience in pediatric cardiology, his career includes multiple lectures in pediatric cardiology for physicians and healthcare providers and academic service including Clinical Instructor and Assistant Clinical Professor positions with the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. A board certified pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Prochazka is a member of several professional societies including the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography and is a Fellow of The American Academy of Pediatrics and The American College of Cardiology. He also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.

An active member in the community, Dr. Prochazka has served on the Board of Directors for the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Orpheus Musical Society and the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra.

Graduating from The University of Michigan Medical School, Dr. Prochazka completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at the David Grant U.S. Air Force Medical Center at the Travis Air Force Base in California, where he served as Chief Resident. He is fellowship trained in pediatric cardiology by the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center.
