Dr. Jairo Torres joined Children’s in September 2008. An expert in otolaryngology, Dr. Torres provides general pediatric ENT and otology care in the Hospital’s Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic. He has published in “Acta de Otorrinolaringología y de Cirugía de Cabeza y Cuello,” the official publication of the Colombian Society of Otolaryngology and “Head and Neck Surgery,” for his
research, which includes “The Use of Adhesive Substances in the Middle Ear” and “Major Salivary Gland Tumors.” Dr. Torres has more than 20 years of experience in otolaryngology. Prior to coming to Children’s, he worked in private practice, and served as the director at Clinica de Otorrinolaringología de Occidente and as a pediatric otolaryngologist at Hospital Infantil Club Noel in Cali, Colombia. He also volunteered in Operation Smile and Insituto de Niños Ciegos y Sordos in Cali.
Dr. Torres earned his medical egree from Universidad del Valle, Facultad de Medicina in Cali. He completed his residency in otorhinolaryngology at Hospital Universitario del Valle in Cali and participated in a Fellow Visitor Program in otolaryngology at Case Western Reserve University before returning to the United States to further his otolaryngology training. He completed an internship in the Department of General Surgery and an otolaryngology residency in the Department of Otolaryngology at University Hospitals of Cleveland and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Ohio.
Dr. Torres is fluent in Spanish. His hobbies include scuba diving, a pastime he’s enjoyed since 1985, as well as hyperbaric medicine and diving.
