Board certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Monthakan Ratnarathorn has extensive research experience. Prior to earning her medical degree, she completed her undergraduate degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and participated in research studies for MIT and BASF Bioresearch Corporation. While completing her medical degree she participated in research studies for MIT, Boston University and Rockefeller University on projects including the construction and expression of mutations in the diphtheria toxin-IL-2 fusion protein in hopes of elucidating key sites in the human IL-2 sequence.Monthakan Ratnarathorn, MD

A graduate of Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Ratnarathorn completed her general surgery internship at the University of Hawaii Integrated Surgical Residency Program in Honolulu, Hawaii and her residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Charles R. Drew University Program at Martin Luther King Hospital in Los Angeles. She is fellowship trained in pediatric orthopaedic surgery by the Orthopaedic Hospital in Los Angeles.

While receiving her medical training, Dr. Ratnarathorn was honored with the 2000 J. Vernon Luck Sr. Award by the Orthopaedic Hospital, for outstanding resident physician contribution to the International Children’s Program.
