Board certified in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology by the American Board of Pediatrics, and also board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Renee Poulin Kinman joined Children’s Hospital in 2005 as a pediatric endocrinologist.
Dr. Kinman completed the Teaching Scholars Program at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She is currently co-director of the Pediatric Scholars Program at UCSF-Fresno. Actively involved in medical education and curricular development, she enjoys working with medical students, residents and faculty. She is a member of the UCSF Faculty Development Working Group, which is dedicated to helping all UCSF faculty members improve their teaching skills. The recipient of multiple teaching awards, Dr. Kinman recently received a grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics to improve community pediatrics education.
Dr. Kinman publishes regularly and her work has been in a number of medical journals, including “Diabetes,” the “American Journal of Hypertension,” and the “American Journal of Physiology – Endocrinology and Metabolism.”
She is a member of several professional societies, including the Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders and the Endocrine Society. She is also a member of Specialty Medical Group.
Dr. Kinman attended Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Ohio. She completed a dual residency in pediatrics and internal medicine at University Hospitals of Cleveland/Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Ohio. She returned to Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital for her fellowship in pediatric endocrinology. In addition, she earned a PhD in physiology and biophysics in the area of insulin transport from the University of Southern California.
