Board certified in general and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Sara Chang joined Children’s Hospital in July 2012 as a pediatric surgeon. Her areas of special interest include surgical disease of the newborn gastrointestinal tract, anorectal malformations, neuroblastoma, minimal invasive surgery, and surgery for inflammatory bowel disease.
Dr. Chang has published in peer-reviewed publications such as “Journal of Pediatric Surgery,” “Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition” and “Molecular Cancer Therapy.”
She has also presented across the country on a broad range of topics, including technique of thoracoscopic repair of esophageal atresia with distal trachoesophageal fistula, and laparoscopic repair of congenital paraesophageal hiatal hernia in children, pediatric breast lesions, spleno-adrenal shunt, and near-infrared spectroscopy to assess intestinal blood flow and necrotizing enterocolitis.
Dr. Chang earned her medical degree and completed her residency in general surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She completed her fellowship in pediatric surgery at University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Ill. She is a member of Specialty Medical Group.
In her free time, Dr. Chang enjoys running, leisure reading and gardening.
