Campaign for Children's Hits $37M

Delivering Hope and Promise

In October 2009, Children’s Hospital celebrated a milestone in the construction of the Paramount Farms Plaza expansion and kicked Artist rendering of expansionoff the new $42 million initiative to help build upon Children’s rich history of success.  Amid these challenging times, we hear amazing stories about the care and compassion our patients receive every day here at Children’s.

Care givers are transforming healthcare to ensure a better life for the children in our community.  The ultimate goal of the campaign is to help Children’s Hospital meet its vision to be the premiere pediatric medical center in the heart of the Golden State.  It costs $1 million to operate Children’s Hospital for one day, and when you see the innocent and playful faces of those we help, you understand this is a very small price to pay.

Smittcamp familyTo date, Children’s has secured over $37 million in donations.  Campaign co-chairs Bill and Linda Smittcamp have worked tirelessly donating their precious time, enthusiasm, and resources to make this happen.  “There is no such thing as a child we shouldn’t care for, whether they are ours, our neighbor’s or from across the Valley,” said Bill Smittcamp.

Bill and Linda cross the Valley to speak about their own moving experiences at Children’s Hospital following their son’s near-fatal accident. Both are active with the hospital in addition to their roles as co-chairs, Bill as a trustee and Linda as a Guild member.  They remind Children’s friends and supporters how important Children’s Hospital was to them as a family, and how important it is to every family in Central California.

West expansion construction“Children’s Hospital Central California is already one of the largest hospitals of its type in the nation, consistently ranking at the top of national benchmarks for outcomes, excellence in nursing, and patient satisfaction.

Paramount Farms Plaza, the new 60,000 square foot expansion of Children’s Emergency Department and Trauma Program, will allow the hospital to grow emergency, imaging, surgical suites, critical care and other programs to match the deepening need of the region’s ill and injured kids.  The Campaign for Children’s is vital to provide the needed equipment, services, and unrestricted funds that can be applied where the need is greatest.  To date our generous donors have given over $25,485,030 for this effort.

The Campaign for Children’s also provides Children’s with the support of endowments that will provide a constant source of funding for The Guilds of Children’s Hospital Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Endowment, the Willson Heart Center, and the Endowment for Excellence.  Over $11,647,740 in endowment gifts have been raised for our future.
