Brett Todd, Enterprise Holdings regional vice president and Dana Derby, Human Resource generalist supervisor, recently presented Children’s Hospital with a $3,500 donation from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation. The foundation is the philanthropic arm of the company that, through its regional subsidiaries, operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands.
Supporting Children’s Hospital is not new to Enterprise or its employees. For the last six years, “Operation Fuzzy Feet” has become a time honored tradition where the employees of Enterprise bring the comfort of home to patients at Children’s Hospital. How do they do that? The Enterprise employees pull red wagons full of slippers through the halls of Children’s Hospital and pass them out in patient rooms.
This project was the inspiration of 10-year-old Fresno native Brooklyn Espinoza and her family. She was a patient at Children’s Hospital when she and her family noticed kids didn’t have nice, cozy slippers. Her mother, an Enterprise employee, pitched the idea to her managers and it’s been growing ever since. Brooklyn passed away in November 2008. “Operation Fuzzy Feet” continues in her honor. Over the years, thousands of patients’ hearts and feet have been warmed by the generous employees of Enterprise.
But wait, their commitment doesn’t stop there. For many years, the employees of Enterprise have also participated in the annual Kids Day fund-raiser for Children’s. Not only have they participated, they have placed as one of the top business challenge winners each year. Enterprise Holdings proves once again they are true Champions for Children’s.
