Children’s Hospital Central California has received a donation of nearly half a million dollars to support its mission to provide outstanding medical care to Central Valley children.
The gift of $475,291 was made possible through a bequest in the family trust of a former Guild member. The Scheidt Family Trust was created in 1991 by Alexander Walter Scheidt and his wife, Vera D. Scheidt. Mrs. Scheidt was a member of La Tienda Guild for 28 years. La Tienda Guild was one of the original organizations founded to create the hospital in the early 1950s. It runs a thrift shop, located in the Tower District.
Mr. Scheidt passed away in 1995, and Mrs. Scheidt died in November 2006. Before their deaths they named Children's Hospital as beneficiary of 50% of the trust's assets.
“We are incredibly grateful for the Scheidt’s very generous gift,” said James Meinert, vice president, Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Gifts through bequests are so important to our operation, and we are always both touched and gratified to receive them.”
