The 5th Annual Share the Warmth Coat & Blanket Drive took place on Thursday, November 11th in front of the 23 ABC & Azteca 42 studios in Bakersfield, California.
Television news anchors & volunteers began collecting donations bright and early, the collection kicked off at 430 a.m. and came to an end at 6 p.m. Thousands of coats, blankets and sweaters were collected from the generous community of Kern County.
All donations will benefit the Bakersfield Rescue Mission & Community Action Partnership of Kern.
Children's Hospital Central California teamed up with San Joaquin
Community Hospital supporting this community event! George the Giraffe, Children's mascot, event got into the act and greeted generous folks who dropped off coats and blankets.
23 ABC & Azteca 42 used the power of television to get the word out and encouraged donations during live news coverage and cut-ins throughout the day.
Local radio stations KERN AM & KGFM joined the efforts as they
broadcasted their morning shows LIVE from the drive.
