New Agreement for Children’s Hospital Central California
and Anthem Blue Cross

Children's Hospital Central California and Anthem Blue Cross' (Anthem) State Sponsored Business announced today that they have reached agreement on a new contract for care provided to families covered by Anthem Partnership Plan Medi-Cal and Healthy Families programs. The agreement ensures that more than 35,000 Central Valley children will have renewed access to the specialized care available at Children's Hospital. The new two-year contract will go into effect on June 1, 2008.

"Children's Hospital has served the Central Valley for more than five decades, and our mission has always been to provide high quality, comprehensive health care services to every child. We are pleased this new agreement with Anthem Blue Cross will ensure that the area’s sickest and most vulnerable children will have renewed access to the world-class care available at Children's," said William Haug, President and Chief Executive Officer of Children's Hospital. "This new agreement means that Central Valley children and their families have the security of knowing that they can come to Children's Hospital to get the care they need."

With the renewed relationship between Children's Hospital and Anthem, families covered through the Anthem Partnership Plan Medi-Cal and Healthy Families programs will have access to the only children's hospital between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

"We are very pleased to have this new agreement in place with Children's Hospital," said Kevin Hayden, president of Anthem’s State Sponsored Business Division. "For many months following the expiration of the contract, both parties have worked very hard to ensure the medical needs of children in the community were met. With that as our goal, we have come to an agreement that strengthens our long-standing relationship to serve the Fresno community," added Hayden.

No action is required by Anthem members to utilize medical services at Children's Hospital; Anthem members who have additional questions should contact their member service representative. In addition members may obtain personalized service locally at the Anthem Community Resource Center (CRC) in Fresno, located at: 2011 Fresno Street, #4.
