A member of the legendary Harlem Globetrotters dazzled the patients at Children’s Hospital Central California with his unique style of basketball wizardry.
Dressed in the team’s trademark red, white and blue warm-ups, Anthony “Buckets” Blakes visited patients in the Craycroft Cancer Center and the Child Life Classroom. He twirled a basketball on his finger, passed the ball through his legs, autographed mini-posters and posed for pictures with kids. Always the fierce competitor, Buckets even helped a girl win a game of Scrabble.
The Harlem Globetrotters have thrilled audiences around the world for 82 years. Its roster has included basketball greats like Wilt Chamberlain, Meadowlark Lemon and Curly Neal. The team has played more than 25,000 games entertaining hoops fans both young and old.
The Globetrotters “Spinning the Globe” World Tour comes to Fresno on Jan. 15 at Save Mart Center.
