One of the country's top middle school bands entertained patients at Children's Hospital Central California.
The North Park Middle School Band from Pico Rivera in Southern California played numerous songs for the kids including the theme from "Looney Tunes" and a song from "Pirates of the Caribbean."
A few patients were able to join in on the fun during Mozart's "Toy Symphony." The kids played different instruments like the triangle and cymbals with some assistance from band members.
Band Director Ron Wakefield said the band is committed to social justice outreach and performs at senior centers, homeless shelters and children's hospitals all over.
"We should all strive to leave others better of than when we met them," said Wakefield. "I teach my kids to do that by taking responsibility for their God-given gifts and using them for the good of others."
More than 40 students made the trip to Madera, all of them eighth graders. Clad in white and green, the band played for more than 30 minutes.
