The 10th annual C.A.R.E. (Childhood Arthritis & Rheumatic Disease Education) Family Day was held Saturday April 10 to give families of patients affected by childhood arthritis and rheumatic diseases time to connect with other families.
The event was held at the Scout Island Education Center located on Herndon and Van Ness. This year's theme was "Party like a Rock Star." Limo transportation, live music, and rock star transformations were just some of the many activities available to families enjoying a day of relaxation.
This year's keynote speaker was Amye Leong. Leong, an internationally recognized patient advocate, organizational development expert and motivational speaker, provided words of wisdom to the families.
According to the Arthritis Foundation, approximately 294,000 children under the age of 18 are affected by pediatric arthritis and rheumatologic conditions. The C.A.R.E. Family Day is sponsored by the Rheumatology Practice at Children's Hospital Central California and the Arthritis Foundation.
