Safety

Your safety is very important to us,
and we go to extremes to make sure that you don't have to worry about it during your stay at Children's Hospital.

Security Services

Security Services for Children’s Hospital’s patients and visitors are provided 24 hours a day. Nighttime escort service to parking areas is also available by asking your nurse or by contacting the Security Department.

You can contact the Security Department by dialing extension 35115 or (559) 353-5115 outside the hospital.

Identification Badges & Wellness Wristbands

Hospital personnel wear name badges for identification and security purposes. We ask that you check in at the Information Center at the main entrance or at the Emergency Department when the main entrance is closed. Children under the age of 13 who are visiting are asked about their health in case they are contagious to others. A Wellness Wristband is provided to all visiting children and must be worn at all times while at the hospital.

Fire Safety

In the unlikely event of a fire emergency, you will hear an alarm followed by an announcement of CODE RED. If this happens, please stay with your child in your child's room and wait for instructions from a staff member. Our entire staff is fully trained to respond to emergency situations. Children's Hospital has routine fire drills so that we can rapidly respond to emergencies.

Smoking Policy

To provide a healthy healing environment for our patients, Children’s Hospital is a “No Smoking” facility.

Valuables Lost & Found

For safety reasons, Children’s Hospital asks you to leave your valuables at home when you come to the hospital. Do not leave purses or other valuables unattended. If you lose something at the hospital, please call our Security Department between 8 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and ask to check our Lost and Found cabinet for your item.

You can contact the Security Department by dialing extension 35115 or (559) 353-5115 outside the hospital.

Balloons

No latex (rubber) balloons are allowed because children can choke on pieces of burst balloons. Mylar (foil) balloons are safer. Please be careful with balloon strings and weights as they can choke small children.
